So, I woke up to work on my speech for today, and Bing walks into my room to tell me that Obama has won the nobel peace prize. dang, that's some news. So since then I have seen a whole lot of facebook status' that are, all from christians calling the nobel peace prize committee stupid or calling obama the antichrist. what do y'all think about all of this?
I'd say Obama is as much the antichrist as I am. When he leaves office, it will be some other black democrat who will apparently be the antichrist. I think these people believe that he is anti-capitalist, and to these people capitalist might be interchangeable with the word christ.

As a reminder, Gore got the prize for his climate work. I'm not trying to undermine the prize cuz some really major heroes like Mandela and the Dali Lama won it, but I am saying that it's not necessarily a lifetime achievement award or anything. Whether or not Obama has enacted major change, he kindof stands as a symbol of the hope for change (in a country where he could not drink from the same water fountain as me 50 years ago) and for cooperation. I don't really understand what people think hatemongering will really achieve. Perhaps they think that it will allow them to stand before their children with pride b/c they stood up for what they believe in... although I would say younger generations generally are not very proud of such things.
